Greetings from the Minister

The Honourable Lisa Thompson
Minister of Education

Dear Colleagues,

We know how important it is to get the early years right, for children and families across Ontario.

That is why, on behalf of the Government of Ontario, and the Ministry of Education, I want to thank you and congratulate you for your many accomplishments, and dedication to your important work.

Our Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs), and your College, are making a real difference across Ontario for our children and families – in child care centres, home child care settings, kindergarten classrooms, EarlyON Child and Family Centres, before and after school programs, and more.

Without question, you are all passionate about your work, truly committed, and very hard-working. Your skills, knowledge, and professionalism are putting our youngest learners on a path to future success.

We know that collaboration between parents, caregivers, and early childhood educators is required to deliver high quality early years programs and child care services where our children thrive.

That is why we are developing a new child care plan focused on increasing affordable access across Ontario – while maintaining high standards of quality and enhancing parental choice.

In the meantime, I want to thank every RECE in Ontario because you are all doing amazing work. You are professional educators, shaping the future of our youngest Ontarians.

Please continue your invaluable, life-changing work, because all children have the right to a brighter future, and all children deserve the best experiences in the early years.
