Launch of the CPL Portfolio Cycle
In September 2017 the College launched the Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) Portfolio Cycle, which is the second step of the CPL Program.
The CPL Portfolio Cycle requires members to engage in a two-year learning process by determining their professional learning goals, planning for them and recording their progress.
Engaging in ongoing professional learning is part of the culture of the early childhood education profession and an integral component of both professionalism and leadership. Ongoing learning also ensures that RECEs remain current in their knowledge and skills.
Practice support for members: The College published CPL profiles and example portfolios to help members create their learning plans. Throughout the first year of the portfolio cycle, renewing members were invited to participate in an informative webinar about their CPL portfolio requirements.
Building awareness of the updated Code of Ethics & Standards of Practice
The College conducted a survey of members and stakeholders to seek feedback on priority areas in relation to the updated Code of Ethics & Standards of Practice, 2017. The feedback helped the College plan for resources to support RECEs in understanding and applying the Code and Standards in their professional practice.
Many of those new resources were published as part of a series called #StandardsMatter that provided RECEs with free practice resources and webinars on each of the updated standards. By the end of the fiscal year three of the six standards had been featured and two major resources were published: the Practice Guideline on Dual Relationships and a Practice Notice on Play-Based Learning.
